Emily is a lifelong Kansan and has lived in Lawrence for the past 19 years. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Music Education and has been teaching musicians of all ages in both the public and private sector for the past 15 years. Music has always been important to Emily; the daughter of two musicians, Emily has been singing and playing her way through life since she was a small child. She has sung in many ensembles both as a student and adult and continues to perform in her free time. Emily is currently the music teacher at both Woodlawn and New York Elementary schools in Lawrence. She is also the director of the Cantemos Youth Chorale, a free choir for 3rd through 6th graders in Douglas County. Cantemos Youth Chorale believes that music is for everyone and they strive to remove barriers to participation. This belief is shared by Emily as the director and rehearsing with the kids in the choir is a highlight of her week!

In her free time Emily loves to explore National Parks with her family, volunteer with the Girl Scouts, and spend time with her husband Mark, daughter Adelaide and their three dogs Walter, Pedro, and Remy.
